Memorials and Trees
The Memorials and Trees on this page are a tribute to our members both those honored and the doing the honoring. It shows the generosity and loyalty of our members to their fellow tennis comrades and their love of the game and of each other.
This tree was planted in 2009. Thelma was extremely traditional especially about her tennis and she was a charter member of the Club. It is a bottle brush tree and is located south of the pool. It was donated by group of friends. Click here to read a wonderful article about her in the Herald Tribune. And there are some photos from the Memorial Service here.
Carol's tree was planted in 1997. A plaque is buried next to the tree in the parking lot. If you know who donated the royal poinciana tree please let us know.
Graci McGillicudy added to her many charitable activities by donating an oak tree to pay tribute to Persis Penningroth. Persis was Penny Wagstaff's mother. 1993 was the date the oak tree was planted in the parking lot.
Another charter member this gold tree was planted in 1982 by. The tree is located between court 2 and 3.
John and Maudine Moffitt
John and Maudine Moffitt once again charter members were very generous by donating this tree to the club. The jacaranda tree was planted sometime in the distant past based on the size of the tree.
I am sorry but I don't remember much about this donation and am waiting to talk Ridley to help my bad memory. Well I talked to Ridley today and his memory is much better than mine. I gave us the trees in 2004 and they are pink trumpet trees. Once again thanks for all the pretty trees Ridley.
